Illustrative link analysis
A corporate investigation is a lawful, confidential inquiry into suspected fraud, misconduct, doubtful claims or IP infringement affecting a business. Licensed investigators gather evidence from records the company lawfully holds, official sources such as ACRA, open-source research and discreet observation in public places — then report findings that HR panels, boards and counsel can act on.

| Financial records | Filed financial statements where available | Capacity to deliver, pay or honour warranties |
| Litigation history | Court records and public filings | Disputes, judgments and patterns of conflict |
| Reputational data | Media and open-source research | Adverse press, complaints and red flags others have seen |

Fraud expertise
Fraud investigation led by a Certified Fraud Examiner
Ranger’s Managing Director, Lim Yong Yi, is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Ranger is an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). That discipline shapes every corporate case we run: a clear hypothesis, lawful evidence, and findings that separate fact from suspicion.
Singapore context
Employee misconduct investigation and Singapore law
Findings are only useful if the way they were gathered holds up. These are the frameworks that shape our corporate work.
- 01 · ACRA & official records
Start from what’s on the record
Directorships, shareholdings and company filings from ACRA and other official sources often reveal the links behind procurement fraud and conflicts of interest.
- 02 · PDPA & Computer Misuse Act
Company systems, with authorisation
We examine company-owned records and devices you are authorised to access, and handle personal data in line with the PDPA. Personal phones and accounts are off limits.
- 03 · IP legislation
Evidence for enforcement
Counterfeit and infringement evidence is documented with Singapore’s Trade Marks Act, Copyright Act 2021 and Patents Act in mind, ready for your IP counsel.
- 04 · Workplace Fairness Act 2025
Fair grievance handling
As Singapore’s Workplace Fairness Act 2025 raises expectations on how grievances are handled, independent and well-documented verification of complaints matters more than ever.
We’re not a law firm. For advice on dismissal, prosecution, civil claims or IP enforcement, speak to your lawyer — we regularly work alongside in-house and external counsel.

Within the law
What a corporate investigator can — and can’t — do
Unlawfully obtained “evidence” can sink a disciplinary case or a claim, and expose the company. Here is where we draw the line.
What we do
- Review records and systems the company lawfully owns and authorises
- Search ACRA, court and other official or public sources
- Observe and document activity in public places
- Make lawful test purchases of suspected counterfeits
- Interview willing staff and witnesses
- Sweep offices and boardrooms for hidden devices, with your consent
What we will never do
- Access an employee’s personal phone, email or social accounts
- Obtain bank or telco records without legal authority
- Trespass or enter premises without permission
- Pose as police, regulators or public officers
- Entrap, threaten or pressure anyone
- Place trackers on vehicles the company doesn’t own

FAQ
Corporate investigation & due diligence questions
How much does a corporate investigation cost in Singapore?
It depends on scope — the number of people and entities involved, the records to review, any field work, locations and reporting requirements. After a confidential briefing we give you a clear, fixed-scope quotation before work begins.
How long does due diligence take?
Standard due diligence on an individual or entity typically takes 5–10 working days, depending on how many parties and jurisdictions are involved. We’ll confirm the timeline when we scope the job.
Can you investigate an employee without them knowing?
Yes, discreetly and lawfully. We work from records the company lawfully holds, company-issued devices and systems you are authorised to examine, official sources such as ACRA, open-source research and observation in public places. We never access an employee’s personal phone, email or social accounts, and never obtain bank or telco records without legal authority.
Will your findings stand up in a disciplinary hearing or in court?
Our reports are structured for HR panels, boards and counsel: clear findings, supporting evidence, sources and limitations, with evidence handled under a documented chain of custody. We’re not a law firm — your lawyers decide how findings are used, and we can support them.
Do you handle insurance and workers’ compensation claim investigations?
Yes. We carry out discreet surveillance in public areas to verify injury, public liability and medical leave claims, and document what we observe in time-stamped reports that help insurers and employers make fair decisions.
How do you investigate counterfeit or IP infringement?
Through open-source intelligence, lawful test purchases and careful documentation of infringing products, listings and sellers — evidence your IP counsel can use to enforce rights under Singapore’s Trade Marks Act, Copyright Act 2021 and Patents Act.
We have received an anonymous whistleblower complaint. What should we do?
Preserve what you’ve received, limit who knows, and avoid confronting anyone. An independent, documented verification protects both the complainant and the accused — especially as Singapore’s Workplace Fairness Act 2025 raises expectations on how grievances are handled. Speak to your legal counsel, and talk to us about independent investigation support.
Is our engagement kept confidential?
Yes. We’re happy to sign your NDA before you share specifics, work on a strict need-to-know basis with one point of contact, and handle personal data in line with the PDPA.
