What is integrated security with remote monitoring?

Integrated security links licensed security officers with a 24/7 remote monitoring station that watches alarms and video feeds. Operators verify alerts, support officers during escalations and keep one incident record, so every response is informed and reporting is clear. In Singapore, this approach underpins outcome-based security contracts, which specify results rather than headcount alone.

Components

Integrated security, part by part

Use them together or start with what you need most. Choose a component to see what it does.

Trained officers, backed by technology that gives them context.

Licensed officers work hand in hand with the monitoring station — checking identities at entry points, following guided patrols and escalating incidents with clear information. For the officers themselves, see security guard services.

Know what is real before anyone moves.

When an alarm or analytics rule triggers, operators check live video and access logs first — so officers are sent with context and false alarms are handled calmly. The sensors and cameras are designed and installed by our technology team: alarm systems, CCTV and video analytics.

The systems behind it

  1. DetectionDepends on chanceAnalytics alert

Unless an officer happens to be nearby, or an alarm is wired to the guardhouse, movement at the loading bay can go unnoticed.

Video analytics flags after-hours motion in a restricted zone, and the alert appears at the remote monitoring station.

  2. VerificationBlind approachVerified remotely

The officer walks over alone to check — without knowing whether it’s a stray cat, a contractor or an intruder.

The operator pulls up live footage and checks the access log for authorised entry, confirming what’s happening before anyone moves.

  3. DispatchDescribed from memoryDispatched with context

If it’s real, the officer radios a supervisor, describes the scene from memory and waits for instructions.

The officer is sent with the location, what was seen and what to expect, while the operator keeps watch. Police are called through agreed procedures if needed.

  4. ReportingHandwritten logLinked evidence

An occurrence book entry is written later in the shift. The detail depends on what the officer remembers.

The alert, footage clips, access log and the officer’s notes are linked into one incident record for supervisors to review.

The officer did their best — but acted alone, with little information, and the record depends on memory. The same officer, the same night — but verified before moving, dispatched with context, and backed by a complete record.

Illustrative only. Real response depends on your site, systems and agreed procedures.

  3. Implementation

Monitoring connected, procedures and escalation paths agreed with you, and officers briefed on how to work with the command centre.

  4. Ongoing support

24/7 monitoring, regular service reviews and continuous improvement as your site and risks change.

Singapore context

Outcome-based security contracts in Singapore

Why more buyers — from MCSTs to industrial operators — are moving from headcount-only contracts to integrated, outcome-based security. We’re not a law firm; for contract-specific legal questions, speak to your lawyer.

01Outcome-based contracting
The government encourages buyers to contract for security outcomes — detection, response, reporting — rather than headcount alone. Integrated solutions make those outcomes measurable.
02Progressive Wage Model
The PWM raises wages and training for security officers. Technology-enabled guarding lets skilled officers focus on the work that needs them.
03Private Security Industry Act
Security agencies and officers must be licensed by the Singapore Police Force. Ranger holds Security Agency Licence L/SA/2026/000052 and Security Service Provider Licence L/PS/001256/2026P.
04PDPA & surveillance data
CCTV footage and access logs are personal data. Clear purposes, notices, restricted access and sensible retention keep your site on the right side of the PDPA.

Responsible monitoring

Remote monitoring, within the law

Cameras, access logs and analytics involve personal data. Here is how we use them — and where we draw the line.

What we do

  • Display CCTV notices where cameras operate, in line with PDPA good practice
  • Monitor video and alarms only for clear site-security purposes
  • Restrict footage and access-log viewing to authorised people
  • Keep data only as long as needed, then dispose of it securely
  • Keep a trained officer in the loop for decisions on the ground
  • Escalate to the police or SCDF through agreed procedures

What we will never do

  • Place cameras in toilets, changing rooms or other private spaces
  • Use footage for purposes people haven’t been told about
  • Share personal data without a lawful basis
  • Recommend technology that doesn’t serve a clear operational purpose
  • Let an algorithm make calls that need human judgement
  • Access systems or devices without the owner’s authorisation

FAQ

Integrated security & remote monitoring: your questions

More FAQs
What is integrated security?

Integrated security links trained, licensed security officers with a 24/7 remote monitoring station, alarms, access control and video, so they work as one operation. Officers get real-time context to verify, respond and escalate; supervisors keep live visibility across sites; and you get one clear incident record.

What does remote monitoring involve in Singapore?

A remote monitoring station watches alarm signals and video feeds centrally, 24/7. Operators verify alerts, support officers during escalations, contact keyholders or the authorities under agreed procedures, track incidents and review footage — so procedures stay consistent across sites and shifts.

Will technology replace our security officers?

No. Technology does not replace judgement — it gives officers context. Cameras, alarms and analytics help detect and verify what is happening, but trained officers still respond on the ground, speak to people and make the calls that need human judgement.

What is an outcome-based security contract in Singapore?

Outcome-based contracting (OBC) specifies the results you need — such as how incidents are detected, verified, responded to and reported — rather than only the number of officers and hours. The Singapore government encourages OBC for security procurement, often combining officers with technology. We can help you frame outcomes that fit your site.

Do you install the CCTV, alarms and access control?

Yes — through our Security Technology team, which surveys, designs, installs and supports CCTV, access control, alarm systems and video analytics. This page covers how those systems are monitored and linked to officers.

Can you monitor our existing CCTV or alarm system?

Often, yes. We review your existing systems during the free security assessment and tell you plainly what can be connected to monitoring, what needs upgrading and what isn’t worth changing.

Is CCTV monitoring compliant with the PDPA?

CCTV and analytics can be used in line with the PDPA when there is a clear purpose, notices are displayed where cameras operate, access to footage is restricted, and data is kept only as long as needed. Cameras must never be placed in private spaces such as toilets or changing rooms. We’re not a law firm — for specific legal questions, speak to your lawyer.
