Within the law
What security officers do — and don’t
Licensed officers are there to deter, observe, control access and respond. They are not the police, and a good agency is clear about the difference.
What our officers do
- Guard posts, control access and manage visitors according to your site rules
- Patrol, inspect and respond to alarms and incidents
- Record incidents accurately and escalate to you — and to the police or SCDF when needed
- Follow emergency and evacuation plans agreed with building management
- Collect only the visitor data your site needs, handled under the PDPA
- Work with properly licensed, trained and supervised officers
What our officers won’t do
- Act as, or claim the powers of, the police
- Use force beyond what the law allows
- Search people or their bags without consent or a lawful basis
- Collect full NRIC numbers for routine visitor registration
- Deploy unlicensed or unbriefed officers
- Leave a post unattended without agreed relief
Singapore context
Hiring a security company in Singapore: the rules
A quick, plain-English guide. We’re not a law firm — for contract or legal questions specific to your organisation, speak to your lawyer or the relevant authority.
- 01Private Security Industry Act
- Security agencies and security officers in Singapore must be licensed by the Singapore Police Force. Always ask for the agency’s licence number — ours are listed above.
- 02Progressive Wage Model
- The PWM sets wage and training requirements for security officers. It protects officers and raises service quality — so budget for compliant rates, and be cautious of bids that look too cheap.
- 03Outcome-based contracting
- The government encourages buyers to specify outcomes rather than just headcount, often pairing officers with technology. See our integrated security & remote monitoring.
- 04Condominiums & MCSTs
- Management councils buy security on behalf of residents. Clear post orders, a visitor policy and regular reporting to the council keep everyone aligned.
- 05Events & VIP visits
- Large events need crowd and emergency plans coordinated with the venue and, where required, the authorities — see event security. Visiting executives are covered by executive protection.
- 06PDPA & visitor management
- Visitor logs and CCTV involve personal data. Organisations should collect only what they need; PDPC guidance generally discourages collecting full NRIC numbers for visitor registration.

FAQ
Security guard services: common questions
What security guard services do you provide in Singapore?
We provide licensed security officers for static guarding, condominium guardhouses, reception and concierge security, and mobile patrols — backed by 24/7 remote monitoring where it helps. For events we have a dedicated event security team, and for VIPs and visiting executives an executive protection team.
Are your security officers licensed?
Yes. All our security officers are licensed by the Singapore Police Force and receive ongoing training. Ranger holds Security Agency Licence L/SA/2026/000052 and Security Service Provider Licence L/PS/001256/2026P, and has served clients in Singapore since 1986.
What is the difference between static guarding and mobile patrol?
Static guarding places a licensed officer at a fixed post — a guardhouse, lobby, gate or reception — for agreed hours. Mobile patrol sends officers to visit one or more sites on scheduled and random rounds, inspect the premises and respond to alarms. Many sites combine the two: static officers during busy hours, patrols after hours.
Do you provide condominium security guards for MCSTs?
Yes. For condominiums we provide guardhouse officers, visitor and contractor registration, access control, carpark and facility patrols and incident reporting to the management council — with visitor records handled in line with the PDPA.
How quickly can you deploy security guards?
It depends on the type of service, manpower needed, urgency, site complexity and duration. Urgent requests can sometimes be arranged quickly; larger or longer deployments need proper planning, a site survey and clear post orders so officers are effective from the first shift.
How much do security guard services cost in Singapore?
Cost depends on the number of posts, hours of coverage (office hours, evenings or 24/7), site complexity, contract duration and whether technology such as remote monitoring is included. Rates must also meet Progressive Wage Model requirements. We quote clearly after a free site survey.
What is the Progressive Wage Model and why does it matter when hiring a security company?
The Progressive Wage Model (PWM) sets wage and training requirements for security officers in Singapore. A PWM-compliant provider pays and trains officers properly, which supports retention and service quality. Ranger is accredited with the Progressive Wage Mark. Be wary of quotations that look too cheap to be compliant.
Do you also cover events and executive protection?
Yes, through dedicated teams in our Security Solutions line. Event security covers crowd management, accreditation, bag checks and emergency plans; executive protection provides discreet, licensed close protection support for executives, VIPs and visiting delegations. Your site officers can work alongside both.
