What does an alarm system in Singapore include?

A professionally designed alarm system combines sensors — motion detectors, door and window contacts, glass-break and vibration sensors — with a control panel, siren and, ideally, 24/7 alarm monitoring that verifies alarms before anyone is sent. Ranger, established in 1986 and licensed by the Singapore Police Force as a security service provider, designs, installs and maintains intrusion detection for shops, offices, warehouses and homes, starting with a free site survey.

Intrusion detection

Burglar alarm systems, built in layers

Sensors, monitoring, panic buttons and maintenance. Choose a part of the system to see what’s included and where clients use it.

Layers that alarm at the edge — before anyone reaches what matters.

An intrusion detection system protects your premises in layers: contacts on doors and windows at the perimeter, motion detectors inside, and dedicated sensors on high-value points such as a safe. Zones can be armed separately, so the storeroom stays protected while the shop is open.

The right detector in the right place — the heart of a quiet, reliable alarm.

A motion sensor alarm is only as good as its sensors and where they go. We choose PIR, dual-technology or pet-immune motion detectors, door and window contacts, glass-break detectors, photoelectric beams and vibration sensors to suit each space.

An alarm someone actually answers — day or night.

Alarm monitoring sends signals from your panel to a 24/7 monitoring station. Alarms are verified before anyone is sent — on CCTV where cameras are linked, or with a call to a keyholder — then escalated to a keyholder, a security officer or the police through agreed procedures.

See integrated security & remote monitoring for how our Security Solutions team runs it.

A quiet way to call for help, without escalating the moment.

Fixed panic buttons under counters and desks, or portable pendants, send a silent alert so staff can call for help without drawing attention. Duress codes on the keypad signal that someone is being forced to disarm. Common at cash counters, reception desks, clinics and jewellery shops.

Reliable alarms are maintained alarms.

Batteries age, sensors collect dust and insects, and renovations move shelves and signage. Regular maintenance visits test every zone, siren and communication path, clean and re-aim detectors, and review the event log for nuisance alarms — then fix the cause, not just the symptom.

    Alarm monitoring Singapore

    From sensor to response, verified

What happens between a sensor tripping and someone arriving is what separates a useful alarm from a noisy one.

    1. Detect

      A sensor trips

A contact, motion detector, beam or glass-break sensor reports to the panel, which knows exactly which zone it was.

    2. Deter

      Panel & siren

After any entry delay, the siren and strobe sound locally and the panel sends the alarm signal on.

    3. Verify

      Check before anyone moves

The monitoring station checks linked CCTV or calls a keyholder, so real intrusions are separated from nuisance alarms.

    4. Respond

      The right people, informed

A keyholder, a licensed security officer or the police are contacted through agreed procedures, with the facts in hand.

Monitoring is run with our Security Solutions team, and linked CCTV lets alarms be checked on camera before anyone is sent.

    Singapore context

Security alarms for shops, offices, warehouses & homes

What we plan for in Singapore’s climate and buildings.

    Heat, humidity & downpours
Tropical weather is hard on outdoor sirens and sensors. We use weather-rated housings, keep detectors out of direct sun and away from aircon outlets, and seal cable entries.
    Cicaks, insects & dust
Small visitors can set off poorly chosen detectors. Sealed, insect-resistant sensors and routine cleaning keep nuisance alarms down.
    Mall units & shophouses
Mall management often has rules on sirens, shutters and after-hours works; shophouse façades usually need landlord consent. We check before we drill.
    Offices
Arm floors or rooms separately so late workers aren’t caught out. With access control, the alarm can arm when the last person leaves.
    Warehouses in Jurong & Tuas
High racking, big volumes and loading bays call for dual-technology detectors, beams across aisles and yards, and a clear plan for after-hours deliveries.
    Landed homes, condos & HDB
Separate user codes for family and helpers, arming while you travel, and a panic button by the bed. External sirens in condos may need MCST approval.

    Our process

How we install your alarm, step by step

Five clear steps from first visit to long-term support.

    1. Free site survey

We walk your premises, note entry points, glazing, valuables, pets, working hours and any mall, landlord or MCST rules.

    2. Design

Zones, sensor types and placement, sirens, panic buttons and monitoring — with an itemised proposal.

    3. Installation

Neat, tested installation scheduled around your trading hours, with wired, wireless or mixed equipment.

    4. Test & train

We walk-test every zone and siren, then train each user on arming, disarming, codes and what to do if the alarm sounds.

    5. Support

Scheduled maintenance, battery checks, nuisance-alarm reviews and help whenever you need it.

    FAQ

    Alarm system questions, answered

    More FAQs

How much does an alarm system cost in Singapore?

It depends on the size of your premises, how many zones and sensors you need, wired or wireless equipment, sirens, and whether you add 24/7 alarm monitoring or CCTV verification. We start with a free site survey, then send an itemised quotation before any work begins.

Wired or wireless burglar alarm — which is better?

Wired systems suit new fit-outs and larger sites where cabling is easy. Wireless systems install with less disruption and suit rented shops, offices and homes; supervised wireless sensors report their status and battery level. Many sites use a mix. We recommend what fits your premises at the survey.

What is alarm monitoring, and do I need it?

With alarm monitoring, signals from your panel go to a 24/7 monitoring station instead of only sounding a siren. Operators verify the alarm — for example on CCTV or by calling a keyholder — and escalate through agreed procedures. It suits premises that are empty after hours. See integrated security & remote monitoring.

How do you reduce false alarms?

Mostly through design and habits: pet-immune or dual-technology detectors, placement away from aircon outlets, direct sun and moving signage, sealed and insect-resistant sensors, sensible entry and exit delays, user training, and regular maintenance. Verification before dispatch then filters out what remains.

Will my alarm still work during a power cut?

Alarm panels are normally fitted with a backup battery so the system keeps running during a power interruption, and systems can be designed with more than one way to send signals where that suits your risk. Batteries age, so they are checked at maintenance visits.

Can I arm and disarm my alarm from my phone?

Many modern alarm panels support app control, with separate user codes, notifications and an event log. We set it up securely — unique passwords and individual user accounts rather than one shared login.

Can my alarm work with my CCTV?

Yes. When a sensor trips, the linked camera can be checked straight away, so the alarm is verified before anyone is sent. See CCTV installation and video analytics & system integration.

Do I need approval to install an alarm in a mall unit, shophouse or condo?

Inside your own unit, usually not — but external sirens, works on façades or common property, and after-hours installation may need approval from mall management, the landlord or the MCST. We check the rules at the survey and coordinate with them.
